About me

I am a gamer through and through. I also love food and I am big into JRPGs (and RPGS in general really).

I live in Orlando FL, married 4 years to a wonderful woman, and work as a wage slave at a medical supply company. Yay me. I also have a blog, about gaming and wargaming:

Occupation: Customer Service Rep

About my collections

I have a growing JRPG collection (what I would consider from the Golden Age of RPGS) and as far as books go I have too many to even begin listing in full.

Tales of Symphonia review

Posted : 13 years, 9 months ago on 14 February 2011 04:44 (A review of Tales of Symphonia)

Tales of Symphonia... I cannot begin to describe how amazing this game is to me. Lets just start by saying the following: I consider this one of the best console RPGS I have ever played. To this day I could load it up, play it, and it would still hold up against the other games out right now.

You start the game off as Lloyd, a human boy who is raised by a dwarf in a small village. You go to class, you meet your friends Genis (who is a GENIUS hur hur) and Collette, the next Chosen.

The game starts off with your typical religious pilgrimage to save the world journey, where Lloyd and a band of people escort Collette to these various elemental towers, where she must open the seals.

After you open the last seal however is when things take a strange turn. I won't spoil it for you but the game takes a VERY distinct turn here and changes the game, as it were.

The combat is handled in a vein like Street Fighter and other 2d fights. You control your selected person, while the rest are either controlled via the AI (its not terrible to be honest) or up to 3 friends (party RPG? :O) You actually run around on the screen, jump, attack, block, and pull off special moves as if you were playing a fighting game. Its very addictive and fun. The bosses are not pushovers by a longshot, and of course once you beat the game you have a New Game + option.

This game is everything an RPG player needs to enjoy himself. A great story with plenty of twists and turns, likable characters, and great music. Along with an excellent combat system that never feels grindy (at least to me)

10/10. If you love RPGS you need to play this.

Puzzle Agent review

Posted : 13 years, 9 months ago on 10 February 2011 05:09 (A review of Puzzle Agent)

Short, Sweet, and strange beyond imagining are the words I would use to describe this game. I played and beat the game in about 3 hours (using a solutions guide when needed) and was amused and weirded out in equal measure.

You play Nelson Tethers, a man who works for the Puzzle Division of the FBI. I guess we have a puzzle division. You are sent to a town to find out why the eraser factory has been shut down, as they make the erasers for the White House.

You then uncover a plot involving the towns residents, these strange red gnomes, and puzzles puzzles puzzles.

The art is done by a man who I only know as Grickle. He has a youtube account where you can view his other animationed shorts. They are all universally well done and CREEPY.

The game is short as I said, even if you dont use a guide. The story is great though, as is the mood and music. If you enjoy puzzle games then you should consider this one.

Just beware the Hidden People.

Clive Barker's Undying review

Posted : 13 years, 9 months ago on 10 February 2011 05:05 (A review of Clive Barker's Undying)

Undying was...an odd game. I got a hold of it a few years ago thanks to my Uncle. Back when I got it I was really into FPS games, and any game written by a known author interested me.

Let me tell you something. Playing this game in the dark when you are 13 can really mess with your head. I remember getting out of one of the paranormal areas to find myself in a closet with a dead body, the blood from said body pooling up on the CEILING. It was...creepy. From that day forward I never played this game in the dark again.

You play a man by the name of Patrick Galloway, who is going to his old War Buddies home to help him with some family matters. When you get there, strange things start happening. Creatures that never should have existed appear, and start to attack the house. Its your duty as a friend of the man who called you here to solve these issues and discover the truth behind the madness.

Overall this game is solid, and creepy as all hell. To this day I cannot play it in the dark...

Stupid closet with blood flowing the wrong way.

Mega Man: Anniversary Collection review

Posted : 13 years, 9 months ago on 10 February 2011 05:01 (A review of Mega Man: Anniversary Collection)

I grew up on Mega Man. Other kids grew up on Mario and Sonic, but me, I was a Mega Man kid. I started with 2, played 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. Then went back and played 1, all on their original consoles.

Sadly I had lost my old copies of these games when I moved one year. A few years ago I was able to get a Gamecube, and saw this and was hooked.

Mega Man Anniversary collection combines Mega Man 1-8 in their original format, along with an added Save Feature (love this, screw you password system!). The controls are just like they were before, and the games are just as they were before. If you enjoyed Mega Man when you were a kid and wish you could still play them, I would suggest getting this compilation. It also includes 2 fighting games that were not released in the US, both of which are interesting (you play as a Mega Man character and fight other ones in a 2D fighting game A LA Street Fighter)

Beat Hazard review

Posted : 13 years, 9 months ago on 10 February 2011 04:57 (A review of Beat Hazard)

I love music games for some reason, but my biggest problem with them has ALWAYS been the available songs. I have distinct tastes as it where, and games like Rock Band / Guitar Hero generally only have 10-12 songs I really WANT to play through.

Beat Hazard, however, involves playing through your own music, and thats just awesome. You basically pick a track of yours (Mp3), then a difficulty, and the game generates the enemies and strength of your weapons based on the audio of the song. I am not exactly sure HOW it does it, although I do know volume plays a part.

Its an excellent game, and a fun diversion. Why not listen to your favorite songs while blowing up evil ships? Sounds like fun to me!

Word of Warning: If you like Jethro Tull dont play Dun Ringill on this game. Its...brutal.

Mass Effect 2 review

Posted : 13 years, 9 months ago on 9 February 2011 03:21 (A review of Mass Effect 2)

One of the best RPGS I have played in a long while. I would almost consider it an Action RPG as combat is handled via shooting in a 3rd person view. The RPG aspects are the leveling, the quests / missions, and the huge sweeping story. If you enjoy sci fi action adventure, you should check this game out as soon as you can.

thanks for another vote and comment. yup, i'm thanking you anyway hehe.

and my list of games i'd beaten wasn't too big back when i first made the list. i'm pretty notorious for starting games and not finishing them. but, this year i'm like a machine hehe. i think over the past 30 days i've beaten more games total than i have in the past 3 years.
